the narrative and the way things played out at the end was not like what i was expecting, it's an amazing game i had fun playing it. Might make fanart if i have the time :)

Im glad you enjoyed the game so much! ^^ I look forward to any fanart you make! Feel free to share it in the comments :D

Can you, please, tell the name of the plugins you used for the game's OST?

(+1)

DSK SF2 (SoundFont Player), ARIA (Garritan Personal Orchestra 5) (Paid, but worth every penny), and RS5K (Reaper's default sampler plugin)
There's more, but these are the main sounds you're hearing.
Hope this helps! (~ ̄▽ ̄)~

Thank you!! I especially liked the soundtrack, which plays when you have to collect items necessary for disposing of the body. Which of these three plugins did you use to create it, if you don't mind me asking? :)

(+1)

I can't really point out the sample, which I liked the most in that track due to my current lack of knowledge in music-making, hence the (stupid) question about the exact specific plugin/plugins used for the track.

Oh you're fine, I don't mind answering. I mostly used ARIA, but I would not recommend it if you are starting out. DSK SF2 is what I would recommend for you ^^ Happy music-making!

Well I knew nothing good could happen with "maggot" in the title. 😅 I did have some issues with some browsers but that aside your engine has a good feel to it so far. 👍 Are you planning to continue developing it for other projects?

(+1)

Eheheh ^^ Ya I think the engine struggles in Firefox. Ill try to patch it soon. Thanks! ^^ I hope I can make another game like this in the near future

(+1)

Nice one, looking forward to it!

(+1)

ooh that end was unexpected, i enjoyed the play :)

I'm glad!

paid for it and downloaded. just opens a blank page

Sorry to hear that! Which browser did you open it in? I'll look into the issue.

chrome

Hmm, Seems to work for me. Try on a different browser. If it still bugs, it might not be an issue with the game itself. I've emailed itch's support to issue you a refund. Sorry for the trouble

Loved the plot twist in this little game. Very well done :)

I'm happy you enjoyed it!

(+1)

Your stuff is so wonderfully delightful.

(+1)

Thanks Hawk! ^^ I'm glad the experience managed to be both disturbing & enjoyable! (✿◡‿◡) 🔪

(+1)

Dude this game was amesome!!! ^^

Thank you so much!! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Does this count as zoophilia?

What?

Do you mean necrophilia??

Thank you for the playthrough! (Leo had a knife & Joshua managed to make Leo stab himself with it. Sorry for the confusion)

NEVER pass up free protein.

Thank you for the playthrough! I really enjoyed how you switched between cracking jokes and reading the narrative segments seriously.

(+1)

Being easily distracted has it's benefits! ;{D

(+1)

Excellent writing and pacing. I love how much the world's storytelling was detailed, but not distracting from the setup with the protagonist

Thanks! ^^ I was trying to creating an alienating atmosphere that subtly suggested why the protagonist was so isolated.

A short tale in a place with maggots and love by Fangsoft - Wordpress

RATING: 5 out of 5

(+1)

Cool article! Thank you for playing!

A really well polished and succinct small game. As expected from a Fangsoft game... it's the tone and music that remain a stand out for me. Whilst the game is short, I also see improvements in writing, set up and overall structure.

There may be bugs to iron out, but that's more in line with the fact the developer has constructed their own engine for this piece - and not a mark against the content itself.

I appreciate your comment! It was a pleasure to make! Thank you for testing the beta btw!! ✨

This game was so good! You get just enough story to get your mind running, and the end was perfect! Leaving it up to interpretation was an amazing choice. (Either that, or I accidently skipped over the last bit of text.) The sprites are so cute!

Thank you so much!! ^^

(+1)

This was really well done. What a weird story for sure. Made a video on it.

(+1)

Cool letsplay! Glad you enjoyed the experience! :D

(1 edit) (+1)

Just played it! Wow, what an experience, just like the rest of your games. With a very pulpy feel to it. Glad to see fang getting back into it. So cool! <3

\^o^/ Thanks! Lately, I'm trying to mesh my pulp influences with more lyrical BL content.

(+2)

Ahhh, another cozy Fangsoft game to relax to :)

For real though this was very good, loved the gritty music/aesthetics and the NPC dialogue gave me a chuckle too

I'm happy you enjoyed the atmosphere! Lockheart was very restricted by its 8-bit stylization. So, it's nice to break out from that, music-wise!

(+1)

I liked the game really much. The only problem I noticed is you can walk for a bit when you are talking with someone if you have timing. Atmosphere and the music are good, graphics too and overall a good game. You are improving really much!

(+1)

Yes, I apologize for the lingering bugs. I coded this game engine myself & I still have a few issues I have yet to fix. I'm glad you enjoyed your experience regardless though!

(+1)

You don’t have to apologize! That was the only thing I found, but you can fully enjoy the game anyway! Congratulations for making even the engine, it seems a really complicated task! Will you use it for other games in the future?

(+1)

I've already used it for a past game (Super Stoner Serenade). I probably will again if I make another small game ^^

(+1)

I played that one! Can’t wait to see what you will give to us next time!

(+3)

Damn, the atmosphere, aesthetic and vibe were super on point. Loved the music too! :D
